Sometimes the thought of taking a luxurious bath at the end of a long day can help you relax. Light candles, play soothing music, and use an essential oil or scented bubble bath to create a peaceful atmosphere. Take a moment to soak in the water, close your eyes for a few minutes, or read your favorite magazine.
Get the tub ready
First Step:Start with a clean tub for the best experience.
If you get into a dirty tub, you won’t feel very relaxed. Even if your tub has been cleaned recently, take the time to wipe it down with a damp towel to remove any dust or hair that may have accumulated. It’s also a good idea to wipe down the tub after a shower so that soap scum doesn’t build up over time.
Second Step:Fill the tub with hot water while the rest of the tub is ready.
Use water that has steam and is hot to the touch, but not so hot that you can’t hold your hands under the stream. Be sure to plug the tub drain!
If you need to warm up, you can always add more hot water to the tub.
If you are pregnant, choose lukewarm water instead of hot water. Do not take a bath if your temperature is over 102 °F (39 °C) or if you are dizzy.
Third Step: Add some bubble baths or bath bombs for some aromatherapy.
You can make your own bubble bath or bath bomb, or buy some from the store. Bubble baths give you the experience of bathing in bubbles, fun and relaxing, and bubble baths are known for creating beautiful colors for you to enjoy in the tub.
If you are using a bubble bath, pour 1⁄8 cup (30 ml) into the tub while the water is still filling. The flow of water will help mix and distribute the air bubbles.
The Fourth Step:Use essential oils to relax your body or unclog your sinuses.
Mix 6-8 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba. After the water has finished filling, add the mixture to the tub.
Eucalyptus and peppermint are great options if you have a stuffy nose.
Lavender is a relaxing scent.
Lemon and rosemary can elevate your mood.
Avoid using cinnamon, cloves, thyme, and tea tree oils in the tub as they can irritate the skin.
The Fifth Step:Use Epsom salts to relax your muscles.
Use 2 cups (473 grams) of Epsom salts in the tub. Pour in the salt while the water is filling to help it dissolve faster. You can also stir the water by hand to dissolve any residue. Soak in the tub for 15-20 minutes or longer for best results.
Your body absorbs magnesium and sulfate from salt, which relaxes your joints and relaxes your muscles.
